Elizabeth Lake Estates is another of Hampton's established, family-friendly covenant communities. Developed between 1962 and 1983, the subdivision includes 320 well-maintained homes and a community pool. Many of its homes and a large part of its common areas lie on the waterfront that leads out to the Hampton River with access to the Hampton Roads Harbor and greater Chesapeake Bay. Waterfront residents in Elizabeth Lake enjoy bulkheaded properties with docks that easily moor a variety of watercraft, both powered and unpowered. The Hampton River offers many estuaries that are exciting to explore by small powerboats as well as canoes and kayaks. Residents of non-waterfront Elizabeth Lake properties are also able to enjoy the neighborhood's waterfront location by way of the large common areas along the waterfront.
The community pool is another popular and family friendly gathering spot for its members and is extensively used for both recreation and competition.
Convenient amenities are very closeby in Willow Oaks Village Square Shopping Center, home to dozens of business including restaurants, banks, a grocery story, a pharmacy, and many other retail outlets.
